We have a LOT of activities coming up so please read below carefully.
Boys: vest, button-down shirt and pants, suspenders, tie/ bow tie, mustache
Girls: hair curlers, pearls, skirt and blouse, dress and tights
All Children: Use a wig or create grey hair (using baby powder or washable hair spray). Wear eyeglasses, wear a robe, use a cane/walker, etc.*
We will also be sharing our 100th Day of School projects that each of the students create at home. For this project, your child should create a collection of 100 objects. How you choose to display the 100 objects is up to you and your child. Some families use a poster board or t-shirt that can be worn to school. Other families bring in 100 of something in a bag. There are some really creative ideas online! 😊
- The Kindergarten team will be hosting a second Parent Ed session on Thursday, January 31st. You may choose to come from 8:45-9:15 AM or 2:30-3:00 PM. This session will offer information on literacy strategies, the Daily 5, and mCLASS. We hope to see you there!
- Our next Field Trip is on Thursday, February 7th. We will be traveling to Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. Email me separately if you wish to volunteer!
- We soon will be creating Valentine’s Day bags to hold our cards/goodies. Cards may be sent in beginning Monday, February 11th. On the back of this paper you will find a list of the students’ names. Please make sure you have a valentine for every child to avoid any hurt feelings. If you need help obtaining a box of valentines, do not hesitate to let us know; we are more than happy to assist.
- On Monday, February 11th-Wednesday, February 13th we will be participating in a Valentine’s Day Workshop with the other Kindergarten classes. The workshop will take place from 2:00-2:40 PM each day. Your child will have the chance to imagine he/she is a worker in a shop and even earn a pretend paycheck! This fun learning opportunity ties in with our Economics unit. On Thursday, February 14th, the students will be given the opportunity to shop in each of the workshop stores. This too will take place from 2:00-2:40 PM. Students will buy “goods” created by themselves and their peers with their earned “paychecks” from the workshop. Mrs. Ward and I will need parent volunteers to help with the shop we are running in our classroom, so please email me if you are interested. We will also need volunteers for the shopping day on the 14th. We cannot guarantee you will be helping in the same room as your child, but really appreciate any and all assistance!
- On Friday, February 22nd, we will have our 100th Day of School celebration. On this day, your child can choose to dress up like they are 100 years old. Below are some dress up ideas for the students.
